The G01 / G02 BMW X3 / X4 M40i is a car that rewards a properly engineered front pipe. Its B58 3.0L turbo inline six engine produces 355-382 HP from the factory, and the original downpipe is built around cost, weight and noise targets rather than gas flow. Replacing it with a mandrel bent 76mm section removes the sharp restriction immediately after the turbine outlet, which lowers back pressure, sharpens throttle response and releases the exhaust note that the factory system
